Our Mission

To pursue, through research, study, analysis and experimentation, the advancement, improvement and promotion of commercial air service in western Michigan for the benefit of the residents and companies that do business in the region. Our goal is to identify how improved commercial air service contributes to improved quality of life for residents and more efficient operations for businesses.

Key Milestones

May 2010

  • AirTran Airways initiates air service (Baltimore, Md.) from Gerald R. Ford International Airport
  • Frontier Airways initiates air service (Denver, Colo.) from Gerald R. Ford International Airport

 

January 2010

  • Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan publicly announces its formation, purpose, leadership and community supporters.

 

December 2008

  • Internal Revenue Service tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status awarded to Regional Air Alliance Of West Michigan
  • State of Michigan | Articles of Incorporation - Non Profit received and endorsed (Amended February 26, 2009)

 

August 2008

  • Dan Wiersma accepted Dick DeVos' invitation to become Executive Director of the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan

 

March 2008

  • Dick DeVos accepted the invitation from the Grand Rapids business community to lead the effort toward improving commercial air service in western Michigan.
